Rogers Holds Down Nats – The Post
Shirley Povich is probably rolling in his grave after last night’s performance by the Nationals. Bob Short may not have noticed, since he is sitting in Hell listening to Calvin Griffith give his “when I found out you only had 15,000 blacks here. Black people don’t go to ball games, but they’ll fill up a rasslin’ ring and put up such a chant, it’ll scare you to death” speech about moving Senators v. 1.0 to Minnesota.
Anyway, I did not watch or listen to much of the game and I am probably a richer (or less poor) man for it. Not exactly the response we were looking for after being named #1 in the ESPN Power Rankings. Perhaps tonight will be different.
Oddly enough, SS Cristian Guzmán accounted for the only Nats run of the game with homer off of P Kenny Rogers.

Robinson, Scioscia Suspended for 1 Game – The Post
Frank Robinson is only being suspended so that MLB can tell itself that they were fair, but we all know that this is all on Mike Scioscia who has a history of pine tar infractions. Thom Loverro points out in today’s Wash. Times that Scioscia stoked the fire for the already hot Nats with his cheating and whining.
Now, let’s let this finally die and move on.

Nats’ long-range plans checked by short leash – The Sun
Front office can’t commit in big way for an ownership group not yet chosen
I missed this article earlier because I have not been skimming Baltimore’s paper as much lately. Anyhow, this article is a reminder for us that the Nats front office is not functioning at 100% because of the ownership situation. This is not news to most WWN readers, but I suppose it could be to the folks in Baltimore. Once again, this is the fault of Peter Angelo$.
