3. The Nats make a low-risk, high-upside commitment to a guy who I think has an even shot to give them at least what they would've got from Redding, at a 25% to 50% discount.

If they'd spent $5 million, say, or brought him on board for umpteen years, I'd feel kind of bad. But that's not what the Nats do with pitchers, nor should they in this offseason. A year from now may present a different perspective.
