Marrero gets spring invite

Marrero invited to Spring Training – The Post
They say Chris Marrero, 20, is the first baseman of the future for the Nationals, but he injured his fibula on June 19 of last year for A-Potomac and has not played since. Nevertheless, he has been invited to spring training as a member of the big club. Hopefully he can develop quickly since the Nats don’t appear to be in any hurry to get a 1st baseman right now. If I recall correctly, both Nick Johnson (wrist, healing power = 1) and Dmitri Young (fat) are not signed for 2010 and the likelihood of both of them being healthy enough to play in 2009 is hardly a sure thing.
