Nats odds and ends: John Lannan, Dmitri Young, Josh Bard

TRACEE HAMILTON – An Ace, or Close to ItThe Post
Some people think P John Lannan is an ace. Manager Manny Acta and Lannan himself disagree. He is the best the Nats have right now, but probably not the guy that anchors a division winner’s rotation. He has been the stopper of late though, going deep into ball games and getting wins that stop losing streaks.

Nats’ Young, ex-All Star, plays heart outThe Wash. Times
Is there anyone who benefited from Jim Bowden’s tenure as GM more than Dmitri Young, currently at AA Harrisburg? Maybe Cristian Guzman, but otherwise, Young parlayed a season of slap hitting into a token All-Star appearance and a 2 year, $10 million contract. Over the life of that contract, he’s played about two weeks of major league ball because he got even fatter. Aside from ripping of the Nats, he endangered himself of his diabetes. Oh and he wants a trade to a contender. I want a 2 year $10 million contract too Meat Hook, maybe that’ll happen too.

Bard Slowly Goes About Business Despite StrainThe Post
C Josh Bard isn’t fast, so his groin injury makes him look especially slow. He is playing through it though. The All-Star break can’t come soon enough for him.
