Nationals acquire Bruney to bolster bullpenThe Wash. Times
The Washington Nationals traded a player to be named later to the New York Yankees for reliever Brian Bruney. The righty wants to close, but walks too many batters. Does this mean Mike McDougal, incumbent closer is done with Washington? We shall see if he’s non-tendered.

Nats sign free agent Ivan RodriguezThe Post
Nationals sign Pudge to two-year dealThe Wash. Times
Old man Ivan Rodriguez has been signed to a two-year, $6 million deal to be D.C.’s insurance policy behind the plate. That is akin to getting an ‘88 Tauras with 180,000 miles on it as a backup car, isn’t it? At that level of compensation, I expect he’ll be getting a lot more of Jesus Flores (when not injured) playing time than he probably should.

This is almost certainly the end of Wil Nieves Nats career? Who?
