For Penn State’s Volleyball Coach, the Streak Is Beside the Point – The Times
The “best coach” on the Penn State campus according to Joe Patenro is Russ Rose, women’s volleyball coach. I’m not going to argue with JoePa on this one because Rose has won 2 women’s volleyball national titles in a row, 3 overall and has the Lady Spikers on a 98 match winning streak. He is also a pioneer in using statistics in volleyball, having written his master’s thesis on the subject. His own stats go beyond the official NCAA numbers and that has helped create the longest winning streak in Division I women’s history (all sports).
Undefeated Penn State enters the round of 16 on Friday in Gainesville, Fla.
I miss going to matches at Rec Hall, I used to go several times a season.
