Orlandeaux! LSU to Play Penn St. in Capital One Bowl – LSUSports.net
We’re getting confirmation that Penn State will be playing LSU in the 2010 Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla. on January 1, 2010 at noon on ABC. The Big Ten’s second bowl bid went to Iowa in the Orange Bowl, certainly a surprise based on past TV ratings and fan support that Penn State has provided. Given that the Fiesta Bowl went with TCU vs. Boise State, I have to wonder if the BCS decided to base matchups strictly on rankings rather than TV ratings, fan support. I don’t have a problem with that mind you, but I would not have been heartbroken to see the Nittany Lions in the Orange Bowl.
I’ll have more to write about over the next several days. The two teams have met in January before and overall, I think it is a good matchup.
Penn State is probably wearing blue (yay) for the game, since LSU favors wearing white almost all the time.

It wasn't a dreadful decision from the BCS' point of view. Iowa Nation may not be the size of PSU's, but they'll send plenty of fans to the Orange Bowl.
There must have been some back-room arm-twisting to make that happen. It was pretty clear after the Michigan State game that the Orange Bowl wanted PSU. I had figured that the Fiesta would grab Iowa and not give them a choice. However, from a personal standpoint, it'll be much easier to enjoy the game at 1pm on New Year's Day than at 8:30-midnight on a Monday or Tuesday evening. Iowa deserved to go, but I was a bit surprised that PSU didn't get it. (Although I think PSU can get more mileage out of beating an SEC team than they could against Boise or Georgia Tech).
What color are the fans supposed to wear for the Capital One Bowl on New Years Day 2010? Will they do a white-out or wear blue like the team?
Thank you!
