Penn State men’s basketball dreadful again

DAVID JONES – Ed DeChellis is not the answer anymorePatriot-News
One step forward (NIT Championship) three steps back (0 for the conference thus far) for the Penn State Nittany Lions basketball team. They are awful again, and the familiar cycle of one season of respectability followed by less than 10 wins the next, something we saw under Jerry Dunn. Now, Dave Jones thinks head coach Ed DeChellis, someone Jones admires as a person, needs to go if Penn State has any hope of being a solid basketball program. If he stays, that’s all you need to know about how serious Penn State is about men’s basketball, according to Jones.

MBB had a fine year last year – but they still didn't make it to the NCAA, because they couldn't win (enough of) the games "you have to win." They have not gotten past where they were under Parkhill – 3.44 billion years ago. Jerry Dunn was an emergency hire that lasted too long and DeChellis was just, well, he's a really nice guy.

This is yet another reason why Joe Paterno needs to live forever.

Didn't they just extend his contract too?
