Ryan Zimmerman can’t spell Strasburg’s first name and other Nats thoughts
My PC is busted courtesy of a power surge, so I have not been able to blog too much of late. That situation might improve later this week. Some Washington Nationals observations in the meantime:
Ryan Zimmerman misspelled Stephen Strasburg’s first name in his latest Comcast SportsNet blog post:
Hopefully our team can get out of this funk asap. Steven has been amazing since his debut and really has shown everyone what type of player he is; and will be down the road.
The other day, a cashier at Harris Teeter saw my Nats cap and said “that poor rookie pitcher, he deserves better.” Yes, Strasburg deserves decent defense behind him and offense supporting him.
I don’t care if Strasburg is an All-Star.
The Nats won again last night. Yay Craig Stammen and um, offense! They go for the series win over the Braves in Atlanta this evening.
It is hard to disagree with @kevin_reiss that I am about the only person who thinks the Nats vs. Orioles is a rivalry. The potential is there for all of you to come around though, at least based on this DC Sports Bog post about a John Riggins commercial filmed in Baltimore’s football stadium. Did CF Nyjer Morgan lose the sight out of one eye or something? I didn’t expect him to hitting .353 like last year, but oh man he’s bad (Comcast SportsNet). Two balls went over his head last night, right? He has something like 21 outs on the bases too.
I still can’t wait for SS/2B Cristian Guzman to end his tenure in D.C.
I’m concerned about SS Ian Desmond, I think he can be the answer, but he needs some down time. Too many errors, not enough hitting.
I think I’d rather have 1B Adam Dunn re-signed for a few more years than trade him for prospects unless they are really, really good (Nationals Journal, The Post) and I don’t see that happening. Sign for a few years so we at least have some dingers to look forward to for a few years.
The same with LF Josh Willingham. He and Dunn aren’t keeping anybody from the majors.
