Strasburg, Leake were a battery; Storen still studying at Stanford

Two good stories from Yahoo! Sports this week on Washington Nationals rookie pitchers…

As an 11-year old, Stephen Strasburg and Mike Leake, now of the Cincinnati Reds and another outstanding rookie pitcher, formed a battery on a elite traveling team. At a tournament in Kansas, Strasburg lost his composure and wound up leaving the San Diego-based team, despite catcher Leake trying to help calm him down. Perhaps that tournament was a turning point for Strasburg who has since devoted himself to the path of pure logic (look at those ears, just saying). I don’t think he’s reached the kolinahr yet though.

Drew Storen wants to finish his Stanford degree which would make him one of dozens of major leaugers with a bachelors degree.

Strasburg is on the mound tonight against Matt Cain and the visiting San Francisco Giants. First pitch 7:05 p.m. from Nationals Park.
