There is new speculation that New York Yankees great Lou Gehrig may have been misdiagnosed. For over 70 years, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) was believed to be what killed Gehrig but new evidence suggests that numerous concussions may have actually led to his early death. Given that ALS has been commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, the theory could turn that on its head. Conclusive proof that head injuries were the cause of his decline and death can’t be determined though – Gehrig was creamated.
