Nationals Ink Rizzo To 5-Year ExtensionCSN Washington
Mike Rizzo, general manager of the Washington Nationals since spring 2009, has been promoted to executive vice president of baseball operations. He also signed a 5-year contract extension. I am not surprised by the move, once Stan Kasten stepped down, it seemed likely that Rizzo was going to be given this position. There probably won’t be a replacement for Kasten’s position. Andrew Feffer, the chief operating officer non-baseball operations may get a promotion as well.

The news may not be great if you are hoping to see Adam Dunn signed — Rizzo has the security to let Dunn go.

Hopefully, by the end of five years the team will be reguarly contending and Rizzo will have learned not to be so self-congratulatory during press conferences.
