Ryan Zimmerman returns; Shake Shack, Box Frites Blue Smoke arrive

Plenty glad to see Zimmerman returnThe Wash. Examiner
I am quite happy that Ryan Zimmerman is returning to the Washington Nationals lineup after being out for over 2 months, but I would be quite surprised if it changes a awful lot about the lineup. For one thing, as The Nats Blog pointed out over a month ago, Zimmerman will probably see his power drop. Expect more doubles, fewer homers. Right now, more doubles sounds pretty good though. Hopefully, Jayson Werth may relax a little, though I will be skeptical that he’ll suddenly have much better pitches. The shortcomings of the lineup, such as the lack of a leadoff hitter, are not going away, so let’s not assume that Zimmerman is going to make it all better. I’m eager to see him back at third though.

In other news, the Nats unveil new Scoreboard Walk restaurants from New York restauranter Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality tonight in the — Blue Smoke, Shake Shack, El Verano Taqueria and Box Frites. DC Sports Bog has the details and prices, while JDLand Near Southeast has high quality photos. It all sounds wonderful (except for the fake grass they installed in the Scoreboard Walk area), though I am quite content with a half-smoke (all the way) and a beer when I hit a game. Maybe I’ll see about trying these offerings at one of the weekday afternoon games I like to attend.

The next four games are at 7:05 p.m., a rare steady schedule. The St. Louis Cardinals are here for the next three then the black and orange birds from Balmer show up.
