Redskins owner Dan Snyder drops CityPaper suit

I finally got around to blogging about the Dan Snyder vs. CityPaper/Dave McKenna SLAPP suit the other day after several false starts. The fact that Snyder had not even read the whole article showed that the whole thing was intellectually dishonest.

Last night, around 8 p.m., Snyder announced that the suit would be dropped. So, at the very least, his PR apparatus is learning enough to know when the best time to announce this sort of action is — Saturday evening. Had he waited a few more hours, it would not have made the Sunday editions, for what that is worth.

I’m not a lawyer, but it sounds like it wasn’t absolute victory for the CityPaper, at least based on the Snyder statement. I think Snyder believes he saved face on this one. I am guessing all but the Redskins true believers think so.
