ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The snow has continued to fall here until about 2 p.m. Overall, 5 inches! of beautiful powder with a little ice/slush at the bottom.
I just dug out/cleaned off two cars. There is a layer of ice beneath the snow. The sun was briefly out and there was some melting. Van Dorn Street (VA 401) and I-395 seemed to be moving at speed. A neighbor said the parking lot and back streets were in rough shape. With a re-freeze coming tonight, delays are likely and advisable.
Side note – if I still owned skis, I’d be mighty tempted to go over to the George Washington Masonic Memorial and ski down it. At least for the photograph. I’ve tried to convince a friend of mine in Old Town to do it, but he’s not up for it.
I also put together a post on snow plow routes in Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Maryland. It’s pretty much evergreen so you can check in on it for the next storm. Or can just visit it for the Mr. Plow playlist.
