Silver Line progressing with a possible late year opening

In the last few weeks, Metro rail cars have begun traveling up and down the Silver Line. The tracks, at least east of Tysons, have been energized and testing is ongoing.

But Ol’ Man Winter, he just keeps trollin’ along.
TYSONS, Va. — Just outside the Capital Beltway, 4 inches of spring snow have accumulated.
Travel between Alexandria’s West End through Arlington (Ballston in particular) to Tysons was fine. Slushy on occasion, but not icy.

First phase of Metro Silver Line may open this year

The Silver Line, the largest expansion of the Metro rail system, is progressing to the point that un-powered “clearance car” rail cars are now being pushed up and down the track. I saw one on Friday.

Officials consider Tysons Corner name change – WTOP

The cheesesteak the Nats won for me from a Phillies fan

TYSONS CORNER, Va. — Something that I think people forgot in all the antipathy between fans of the Washington Nationals and the Philadelphia Phillies and their fans is the Nats won season series victory last year. There is a survey for station names along the Silver Line survey in Fairfax County that is worth filling out. Coming up with the Tysons station names isn’t really easy.

I survived the 5.8 Virginia earthquake

TYSONS CORNER, Va. — Every Washingtonian has an earthquake story, here is mine.
I was at my desk in my Tysons office building when everything started shaking. At first, it was mild and I even got off a tweet “earthquake?” before it started intensifying. At that point, I decided that maybe I ought to get under [...]
