Penn State: Blue White Game on ESPN2
ESPN2 To Air Blue-White Game Presented by AAA - Intercollegiate AthleticsIn a first, the Blue White Game, the Nittany Lions' annual spring scrimmage will be televised nationally. "Kickoff" is 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24. Frankly, the biggest appeal of the Blue White Game is the tailgating in a more "relaxed" environment, but if I am not up there, I'll probably turn it on. Penn State Blue White game set for April 24
Blue-White Weekend Presented by AAA Set for April 23-24 - Intercollegiate AthleticsThe Blue White Game is at 2 p.m. on April 24 this year. Tailgating will start approximately 6 hours earlier. I don't know if I'm going, it'll probably be a week of the game decision. The last several have been played in uncharacteristically non-"49° and raining" weather. Oh and there will be a new position battle to keep an eye on -- punter. Ryan Breen is leaving the program (Nittany Lines, The Morning Call). Labels: PSU Football 2010

Joe Paterno gets his eyes fixed! - William World News

Joe Paterno gets his eyes fixed!
The Eyes Have It - Fight on StateSo, that's why Joe Paterno is auctioning off his glasses ( Penn State Live)! Paterno, 83, recently had surgery at Philadelphia's Penn Scheie Eye Institute and no longer needs glasses. However, ever the hipster, Paterno will continue to wear glasses even though he doesn't need them because he feels strange without them. The new glasses will have thinner lenses though. So, I can't help but wonder what the ramifications of Paterno actually being able to see again will have for the Nittany Lions. Also, be sure to read this recent article Sporting News Conversation: Joe Paterno. Surely make Mike Leach is very jealous of Paterno's player old-school player relations. Penn State National Signing Day recruits - William World News

Penn State National Signing Day recruits
Thank goodness that's over. National Signing Day has come and gone, so college football fans can stop getting excited over whether 18 year old boys will come to their favorite school. Apparently, Penn State has a top 10 class. Whatever, the real ranking only comes 3-5 years from now when these guys are playing. In the meantime, read Ken Denlinger's For the Glory and get over recruiting already. These guys aren't players to me until they are on the 3 deep roster. 2010 Penn State Football Signees - Intercollegiate AthleticsLabels: PSU Football 2010

Hey Austin Scott, I don't think calling Joe Paterno to testify is going to help - William World News

Hey Austin Scott, I don't think calling Joe Paterno to testify is going to help
Joe Paterno, ex-players could testify in Austin Scott lawsuit - Partiot-NewsBack in October 2009, I published the post Austin Scott suing Penn State, Centre County and now there is an update. Scott is suing the county because it brought a rape charge against him that was later dropped. Scott contends that his dismissal from the team based on that charge kept him from being a 3rd or 4th round draft pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He may ask former teammates Scott Paxson and Gerald Cadogan to testify. In addition to them, Joe Paterno might be asked to do the same and I have to think this is a strategy that is going to backfire. Paterno will either list the reasons Scott was in the doghouse (tardiness, work ethic, classroom issues etc.) or just ramble off onto some story about growing up in Brooklyn. I think Scott's attorneys are not helping their client out here. He has a case against the county, but not the university. Going after Paterno could just lead to public humiliation. Big Ten Network should have a bands show - William World News

Big Ten Network should have a bands show
I've got a programming idea for the Big Ten Network -- Big Ten Bands, a weekly showcase of Big Ten marching bands. Each week the program would show at least one march from all of the bands performing at home games that week. The show should also feature profiles of band members, traditions and more. I'd watch it. Whoa, a Penn State football post! - William World News
Friday, January 15, 2010
Whoa, a Penn State football post!
Blogging has been off more than on in 2010 so far. My apologies -- I'm trying to get going again. So, how about that Capital One Bowl? I loved, loved the field conditions. Mud, divots, standings water, etc. That's football weather. As for the lack of injuries, how many of us played on fields worse than that as kids in sneakers and never got hurt. So, yeah more of that less of the artificial turf. Southern speed falls to Northern toughness again. Penn State 19 LSU 17. By the way, those were the worst field conditions since Gettysburg, 1863. The Penn State Football story youtube account never posted the Capital One Bowl video. Shame on Guido D'Elia, who failed us again. Good to see Daryll Clark get a big win. He denies it, but he needed it. He will be missed. A lot, especially on Sept. 11 in Tuscaloosa. I'll miss Sean Lee too. Injuries kept him from reaching his potential and getting onto the Mount Rushmore of Penn State linebackers like Paul Posluszny, but he left it all on the field. Navarro Bowman, LaVar Arrington's protegue, is gone to the NFL. I think he needed another year, but can't begrude him leaving early. I am really glad RB Evan Royster is staying. Joe Paterno, still awesome, Penn State still doing it right. ( The Times) Jay Paterno still gaining acceptance. Good news, I have a special Q&A coming up on the blog soon. Capital One Bowl prediction: Penn State vs. LSU - William World News

Capital One Bowl prediction: Penn State vs. LSU
Over the last few days, I made up my mind that Penn State would beat LSU today in the Capital One Bowl. Then, I saw that Jinxy, Dave Jones of the Patriot-News predicted a Nittany Lions victory as well. Uh oh. Midstate Man is going to be really upset. Penn State has the better defensive line and maybe an even better offensive line, if that can be believed. The Nittany Lions also have a better, more experienced quarterback in Daryll Clark who has his legacy on the line whether he likes it or not. LSU has better wideouts, but Penn State's are not too shabby. They also have the advantage of having played on less than ideal fields and the turf at Florida Citrus Stadium or whatever it is called, is awful. That favors Penn State. The blue and white also have better linebackers, but the Tigers have the better secondary. The one major mismatch -- LSU return man Trindon Holiday. He is scary fast, as in 100 meter sprint champion fast. Kick away from him and he can't hurt as much. P Jeremy Boone needs to be on his game today. Regardless of what Jones says, I am sticking to my gut and predicting a victory for the Nittany Lions. PENN STATE 23 LSU 17 GEAUX STATE, BEAT TIGERS!
