What can I say?
I have been really busy this last
month or so. I have been working
over fifty hours a week for quite
some time trying to get all of
these sites online. Thankfully, a
few more are up and a couple more
should be soon. Phew!
On those occasions when I have not
been working, I have been
traveling, leaving me on the go
consistently. Since the beginning
of August I have been to New York
City and New Jersey twice, State
College/Lewistown at least four
times, and Upstate New York,
including Ithaca. I enjoyed all of
my trips and the people I got to
see notably, Tiffany, Chrissa,
Jayna (online manager for
theithacajournal.com), Natalie,
Brad, Caroline, and of course,
Erica.
Thanks for the hospitality everybody!
Announcements
Happy birthday wishes go out to
Jayna and of course Mom!
Congratulations go out to Tiffany
and Derek who were married earlier
this month.
Web
News
Two more 21 Club sites have been
launched.
GreatFallsTribune.com (Great
Falls, Mont.) is launched as of
today. On Saturday,
californianonline.com of
Salinas, Calif. Just two more to go
this cycle, they will probably be
official in October.
Sports
News
I think one alumnus put it best
when he said, "It’s a
tailgating season." Penn State is
now 1 - 4, worst opening record of
the Paterno era. It has been
dismal, I drove over 800 miles to
see them in person and I have yet
to see an extra point by PSU. The
one game that they excelled in was
vs. Louisiana Tech, a 67 - 7 rout.
I missed that because of
Tiffany’s wedding, which is
fine. At least I had fun at the
Kickoff Classic and the Toledo
game. Next week is Purdue, in
Beaver Stadium. I will be there as
I will for all remaining Penn State
games at home. For the away games,
I will be at
Zigs Bar in Alexandria for
PSU Metro DC Alumni Chapter
viewing parties.
If for any reason you want to read
about the Nittany Lions season, go
to
CentreDaily.com, it would
please Mark Waterford to no end.
Oh, one more thing, Dave Pitcher
is kryptonite to the Nittany Lions.
From now on, Pitcher is not allowed
to attend, watch, listen, discuss
or think about the Nittany Lions.
Site of the
Week
Two fisted this week, I have
chosen
GreatFallsTribune.com and
californianonline.com for
obvious reasons.

News
Wow, I have worked over
seventy hours since last
Sunday, almost double a regular
week. On my "day off" I pulled
about thirteen hours. However, the
results will soon be apparent as
the Digital Production Center
continues to conquer the world, one
newspaper Web site at a time.
Media
News
The final tally from the recent
Gannett expansion is in.

USA TODAY -
It's so nice to shower with Mother
Nature. Regular columnist Craig
Wilson's Thursday column rings true,
outdoor showers are wonderful.
Site of the
Week
Much like the past, site launches
earn automatic "Site of the Week"
honors and this time around is no
different.
guampdn.com, the Web site of
the Pacific Daily News
(Guam) becomes the fourth site
launched by the DPC. Think of it as
the Scott Carpenter (of the Mercury
space program) of the DPC sites.
Four more to go this cycle, then
about a dozen. It is a busy, busy
fall.

News
Traveling and my job (expect big
announcements soon) have kept me
from updating WWN lately.
This past weekend, I was up in
Pennsylvania visiting with Erica.
Shockingly, we found ourselves in
State College a couple of times. I
saw the big crane that lifted the
scoreboard onto Beaver Stadium as
well. You can see the photos of
that too, courtesy of Miss Marker
and Glenco Construction. If you get
here quick enough, you can read the
CDT
story about the big pick.
EXPIRES THURSDAY
On August 5, I was at Yankee
Stadium in the Bronx. I had been
trying to get to see the Yankees
play there for quite sometime. The
Yankees wound up losing to Seattle,
with David Cone pitching.
Thankfully, his losing streak ended
the following start, but I would
have liked to see it end earlier.
Following the game, we took the #4
train back downtown and had dinner
at Mickey Mantle's. The previous
night, we also found ourselves in
the city of brotherly love,
visiting our friend Caroline at the
University of Pennsylvania, which
is better known for not being Penn
State. Credit for the trip goes to
Mulchford who arranged the
tickets and put me up for the
weekend.
Media
News
It is official, Gannett owns the
former Central Newspapers. Stay
tuned for the completed WWN
special feature about the recent
Gannett expansion.
Site of the
Week
Since I finally made it to Yankee
Stadium game, I think I will
celebrate by making
Yankees.com, "site of the
week."
