Star Wars Robot Chicken III coming Dec. 12

I was just thinking about Star Wars Robot Chicken the other day, wondering if there would be more. The answer is yes — Adult Swim Hatches Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode IIIstarwars.com

“We’re telling more of a linear story this time that covers the series from start to finish,” says Green. Senreich says, “We wanted to take the Star Wars universe and see if through the eyes of our Robot Chicken: Star Wars Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Gary the Stormtrooper. We’ll still flip around the universe but we’ll get a unique perspective from the bad guy side, from people who just want to rule the universe.”

The premiere is December 12 on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim.

I’m a big fan of these, they are so much funnier than the first Family Guy Star Wars special; I never saw the second.

30 years of The Empire Strikes Back

Today is the 30th anniversary of the release of The Empire Strikes Back, the best Star Wars movie. I was too young to see it in the theater. I’m jealous of those who weren’t and went into cold. People who did have told me about the audible gasps and inconsolable fans outside the theater at the end. I hope I can give that experience to my son in a few years.

Nice narration by Harrison Ford

Two days ago was the 5th and 11th anniversaries of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars:Episode I The Phantom Menace, respectively. The former concluded a wonderful 8 run of Star Wars movies in the theaters. Sith is probably my second favorite, flawed as it was in parts, of the series. It should have been broken into 2 parts, but was still quite enjoyable.

Three years ago I wrote about the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars, so I won’t rehash it any more here. I will however post the Vincent Canby review of The Empire Strikes Back in The Times. Oh and The Darth Side, an excellent fan fiction of Darth Vader’s diary, is still up.

George Lucas considered David Lynch as Return of the Jedi director

Why David Lynch turned down Return of the Jedi! Sci Fi Wire
It is pretty hard to even comprehend David Lynch directing Return of the Jedi, yet George Lucas sought him out for it.

If there are any more Star Wars Robot Chicken episodes, they really need to do some Lynch-ian parodies.

The Star Wars Holiday Special at 30

Happy 30th “Star Wars Holiday Special”!starwars.com
The RSS teaser said: “A whole week commemorating the 30th anniversary of “The Star Wars Holiday Special” starts today.”

Why?! Its awful, even worse than Star Trek V.

If you get the chance to watch this, don’t! Not even to speculate on how much booger sugar a certain actress must have snorted before singing the Life Day song.
