More XL observations

Having Bart Star deliever the Lombardi Trophy was classy — the NFL should have been doing it this way for years. Let’s hope this practice continues.
The Ditka bit in the pregame was really stupid and poorly thought out. Sorry Christopher.
I guess Terry Bradshaw did not make it to Detroit, I wonder why.
They should have had [...]

So, is Neil O’Donnell forgiven?

Super Bowl Live blogging (for a while at least)

Okay, I have decided to do a little live blogging during Super Bowl XL coverage.
UPDATED 10:27 p.m. (scroll down for most recent updates)
Some initial observations:

So far, so good on the pregame show. The features have been okay and not overly cheesy and a lot less emotionally manipulative than they could have been.
Steve Young [...]

Super Sunday

A happy Super Sunday to one and all, especially those in/from the Pittsburgh and Pacific Northwest regions.
If it were up to me, the Super Bowl would be on a Saturday, so there was a day of recovery built in before going to work. No, actually, if it were up to me the day after would [...]

Super prediction

I’m going with Pittsburgh in a fairly close one. I see their clinching TD being a Ben Roethlisberger pass to Heath Miller from no more than a couple of yards out on play action to Jerome Bettis. Final score, Pittsburgh 28 Seattle 20.
Other predictions
Bettis will put the ball on the ground
Seattle is going to play [...]

Groundhog Day

So, if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, does that mean the Steelers win on Sunday?
A happy groundhog day to all, in particular my mother-in-law who says it is her favorite holiday. If you are wondering what Punxy is like, give my brother’s first person account a read.

Watching the game with Marn

Retired broadcaster Cope can still get out a good ‘Double Yoi!’ – Post-GazetteThe ride on the Stillers bandwagon continues with an article about watching the divisional playoffs with Myron Cope.
“People always ask me if I miss it. There was a time last week against Cincinnati when the center snapped the ball wild, and Billy Hillgrove [...]

Thank you Steelers

A big thanks from WWN to the Pittsburgh Steelers for ensuring that Indianapolis and their brand of climate control, green carpet football will not ruin the postseason. Pittsburgh’s victory was not only a triumph for real football, but also real cities. Indy is just a big square in the middle of an unremarkable state, while [...]

MYRON COPE DAY!

It is Myron Cope Day in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is also Myron Cope Night at the Stillers vs. Ravens game at Heinz Field. Celebrate with a Myron Cope collector can of Rolling Rock. Better yet, get the can but only as a souvenir. Bleech!
