Rebel Yell is a misleading name for bourbon

While I was out in San Francisco, I sampled some of David’s Rebel bourbon. In fact, we toasted with it. It was okay, but I don’t think I’m in any hurry to add it to my liquor cabinet.
I could not get over two things about Rebel Yell:
Since 1849 — Putting that year on the bottle [...]

Spirits of the Times samples 25 bourbons

Bourbon’s Shot at the Big Time – The TimesSpirits of the Times has good article about bourbon, specifically premium bourbon.
From 2002 to 2006, sales of bourbon and Tennessee whiskey rose by 12.23 percent. In the same period, sales of high-end whiskeys ($20 to $30) rose by 27.62 percent and sales of superpremium bourbons (above $30) [...]

Times Travel on the Bourbon Trail

Bourbon & Bluegrass – The TimesKentucky’s Bourbon Trail is featured in yesterday’s Times Travel section. I want to take the trip someday; I’ve joked that when a friend gets married we’ll take a trip like this a la Sideways.

Howard was extremely fond of Ted Williams. When Williams came to D.C. [...]

That reminded that Henry Clay (Whig-Kentucky) introduced the mint julep to Washington (and thus the world outside of Kentucky) at the Willard Hotel. I had been meaning to there for some time as a [...]

ONE MINT JULEP

Kentucky Derby 131
Today is one of the biggest days on the Yurasko calendar — our annual Kentucky Derby Party.
Every year we have some good friends over to my ‘rents hosue and celebrate the greatest two minutes in sports with mint juleps, the singing of “My Old Kentucky Home” (poorly), dollar bets, and lots of food.

D.C. BASEBALL HANGOVER

I am still recovering from the great announcement, so the blog will be a little lean over the next few days. Penn State news will have to wait again. There was not much yesterday either. I have a few items from yesterday to add that do not even have anything to do with baseball.
Decision 2005 [...]
