Today, The Post reported that a group of area road builders have proposed leasing the Dulles Toll Road for fifty years. Their price is $1,000,000,000 and they would get to keep all revenues. Virginia could use the windfall to help finance the Dulles Metro line, which sounds great, but color me skeptical. My gut tells me that it probably makes sense for the state to hold onto the road and the annual revenue it brings.
