Florida 9 WASHINGTON 3 (ESPN Boxscore)

I guess we should be careful what we wish for because the lineup devoid Nook Logan and Cristian Guzman was pretty brutal. With both players on the DL (The Post and The Wash. Times, respecitvely) the Nats lost again and in ugly fashion. Josh Wilson had a dreadful game at shortstop. He was charged with one error and missed two plays as well. Dimitri Young also made an error.

Starter Shawn Hill gave up five runs, four earned, over five innings. He did retire 8 out of the last 10 batters though, so Manny Acta was not completely discouraged. Ray King, Ryan Wagner and Chad Cordero all gave up runs after coming in from the bullpen. Jon Rauch was the only reliever with a clean slate.

The top four batters all left at least three runners on base. Given all of this the decision to make Kory Casto’s MLB debut the focus of The Post write-up is welcome. More from The Wash. Times: Nats stumble, then fall again & The Free Lance-Star: A hasty return for Casto

The final game of the series is this afternoon with lefty Matt Chico vs. righty Anibal Sanchez.
