It turns out online advertising is better than paid subscriptions. Starting at midnight, the subscription wall will come down on parts of nytimes.com. It will be interesting to see if there is an impact on circulation based on this move.

It’ll be nice to read Times columnists again.

Also, Romenesko notes that Rupert Murdoch is dropping hints about of making wsj.com free.
