As noted by Chris Needham of NBC Washington, stats guru Nate Silver says the Nats are going to win 78 games.
Silver created a method of predicting baseball stats called PECOTA. Basically, it looks for players who’ve had similar careers, played similar styles, and have similar physical talents. Silver punches all in to his supercomputer, and it spits out likely stat lines for our favorite players.
Okay, that still strikes me as incredibly optimistic and I expect a big improvement this year. I would take it though.
Last year Silver predicted 72-90, in case you were wondering like I was until I asked Needham.
