P J.D. Martin, a #1 draft pick by Cleveland during the early part of this century, made his Nationals debut after a strong season in the minors last night. It did not go well, he only lasted four innings against a weakened Mets lineup. The Nats, playing without Ryan Zimmmerman and Josh Willingham, were once again held in check by original National, Livan Hernandez. The 2005 Opening Day starter is undefeated against Washington since the 2006 trade. Final score 6-2, Mets.

P Scott Olsen‘s lingering shoulder pain has turned out to be a small tear in his labrum. He will have surgery that will shut him down for three months, ending his 2009 season.
