Washington Nationals pitchers and catchers report to Viera, Fla. for spring training a week from today!

A while back the Boston Red Sox started “Truck Day” to get people excited about spring training. It is in essence, the packing and departure of the truck full of equipment for spring training from the ballpark. As pseudo events go, I think it is one worth stealing from the BoSox (way more than “Sweet Caroline”) and the Nats did yesterday. I got a press release about it, but did not see anything on nationals.com. Also, I predict Truck Day won’t catch on in Baltimore.

I am getting pretty excited for spring and Nats baseball and I am not the only one. I’m seeing a lot more going on in the Natmosphere lately and I thought I would point some of it out:

The Nationals Review has a great post the Best Nats Seasons, By Position. Sadly, about half of them occured 6 years ago.

Jenn Jenson of Nats Fan Girls profiles Mark Zuckerman formerly of The Wash. Times, now part of CSNWashington.com and of course, Nats Insider.

Speaking of The Wash. Times, Mike Harris of NatsFanBoyLooser is the editor of the new sports section.

The Nats Blog doing well this winter, I’m looking forward Will Yoder’s season coverage.

The Nationals Enquirer is still getting it done too and so is Federal Baseball. Maybe I’ll come up with a NATMOSPHERE POWER RANKINGS this season. I’d recuse myself of course.

LetTeddyWin reminds us that applications are due February 11 for the Racing Presidents auditions.

MSM stuff:

The Nats situation in the Dominican Republic (The Post) is much better than two years ago during the Smiley Gonzales fiasco.
