I have a problem with the Washington Nationals. Every time I watch them, they lose. I watched them Saturday night and they blew it, on Friday and Sunday, I just listened to them on the radio and MLB audio and they won. Obviously, the outcome of the game is dependent upon whether lay eyes on it.

Friday afternoon, Jordan Zimmermann had his deepest start, 99 pitches, since coming back from Tommy John surgery. He even helped his own cause with a 2 RBI single. Shockingly, Ivan Rodriguez added two insurance runs with his first hit of the season.

Saturday, I had the game on and thus the Nats lost. Veteran Jerry Hairston, Jr. dropped a fly ball that allowed 2 runs to score. Tom Gorzelanny‘s solid Nats debut, other than giving up 2 Carlos Beltran homers, was wasted.

Sunday, Staten Island native Jason Marquis struck out 9 Mets over innings, but the big story was the Nats coming back down 3-1 in the eighth inning. They tied it up and in the 11th, Rodriguez RBI single win the game and a Laynce Nix 3 run homer would follow. Ryan Zimmerman is hurt too, abdominal strain, could be a while. I’m sorry, I’m out of time.

The Mets wore their classic pinstriped uniforms with blue caps for games 1 & 2 and the white uniform with piping and blue cap for Sunday. The Nats wore their road grays and red-billed blue cap (I don’t like it) on Friday and their red jerseys and red caps for the rest of the weekend. While those jerseys are not bad, I’d prefer their wear the standard roadies full-time because they are the best away uniform as DC team has ever worn. Also, I think it is only a matter of time before the red caps become primary on the road as well. Might as well I suppose.
