A 9th inning rally to tie the game? An 11th inning explosion to win it? Yes, I’ll take it. The Washington Nationals are now 18-18 after taking two series in a row with a chance to sweep the Atlanta Braves tonight. If they can win in Hotlanta tonight, they would finish their road trip against NL East rivals at 5-4 and go over .500. This rebound after getting swept out of Philadelphia by the Phillies is a delightful surprise. They have won 4 of 5 and taken consecutive series over the Florida Marlins and Braves. Last year at this time, they were 20-16, if I recall correctly, so let’s not get too excited.

Not bad with their best player, Ryan Zimmerman, on the DL. Jayson Werth has homered in two straight games too.

Strasburg is bored and getting ready to throw off the mound soon. He’s taken up bass fishing as well. Don’t expect to see him pitch up here in 2011 though, it isn’t going to happen.
