AVALON, N.J. — We typically stay near the border of Avalon and Stone Harbor during our visits to Seven Mile Island. One of the reasons is the options for eating out or getting a refreshment at the hotels near the beach. One of them is the Beach Club at the Golden Inn, located just beyond the dunes on 79th Street.
The Beach Club has a covered, three-sided bar and dozens of outdoor tables. Many of the tables have umbrellas and some are gazebo-like. The Golden Inn pool (hotel guests only) abuts the far end of the seating. It is a pleasant setting, so much so that the sometimes indifferent service isn’t too a big deal. Fruity, frozen drinks are available as is beer by the can. The Beach Club has upgraded their menu and outdoor kitchen over the last few years. The menu has standards like hamburgers and big tasty hot dogs, but also items like salads wraps, mahi mahi sandwiches.
At the bar, happy hour runs 4 to 6 and is usually crowded. My preference is to order a drink and walk over into the seating area after a day on the beach.
