CHANTILLY, Va. — As the parent of a five year old son, LEGO® has become a big part of our lives again, so I was pleased to see another LEGO® event was going on last weekend. As LEGO® events go, Brickfair, held annually at the Dulles Expo Center may be the biggest and best out there. Dozens of tables featuring different themes such as Castle, Military, Mindworks, Space, City and more. There is also a Stay & Play area and vendors selling old LEGOs probably bought at garage sales and craigslist. Also, lots of Star Wars minifigs at $5 a pop.
The highlight of the show was the Great Ball Contraption , a large Rube Goldberg machine with Ferris wheels, trains, conveyor belts and all sorts of mechanized parts that moved tiny soccer and basketballs around.
Other highlights include a gigantic LEGO Serenity
a superhero scene with the Stay Puft marshmallow man
and of course, a RUSH concert which begs the question, what would a venn diagram of RUSH fans and adult LEGO builders look like?
I have about 70 photos up or you could just view the slideshow embedded below.
