Flashback: Redskins vs. Lions 1999 playoffs

I am trying to get a guest prognosticator Q&A ready for this Sunday’s game, but until then here’s a little flashback. The last two Washington Redskins home playoff wins both came against the Detroit Lions who are about 0-16 lifetime in Washington (and Prince George’s County), never winning in Griffith Stadium, DC/RFK Stadium or Jack Kent Cooke Stadium/FedEx Field. The Lions will try to change that streak on Sunday.

In Daniel Snyder’s first season, the Skins won the NFC East with head coach Norv Turner, quarterback Brad Johnson, running back Stephen Davis and all-time head case and MICHIGAN MAN Michael Westbrook. Speaking of Davis and Westbrook, their training fight is featured at 2:30 – fun! Nonetheless, despite these apparent handicaps, the Skins took the NFC East that season and hosted their first playoff game in Raljon Landover. The second was all of 8 months ago.

Since it was the Lions visiting, the home team dominated, going up 17-0 on the way to a 27-13 win. The video is mostly scores, but also a fight after a Brad Johnson interception that included Tre Johnson getting ejected for striking an official. Fun!
