Gannett rejects takeover offer from MNG/Digital First MediaUSA Today
I worked for Gannett (though the part I was in became Tegna) for most of my career, moving on about 5 years ago.

I still own stock, care about former colleagues and journalism in general. So, I spent 30 seconds or so on LinkedIn mentioning I was pleased they didn’t get bought out by a company eve more notorious for cost-cutting than Gannett.

It went viral — over 16,000 views in less than 36 hours. Go figure.

Now, were was this kind of attention (of even 2-3% of it!) when I unemployed?! Let’s see how this post does.

Nonetheless, I hope Gannett avoids DFM and finds a way to reinvest in their newspapers.
