More locations for renting a kayak are now open. kayaks and other small craft can be rented at several NOVAParks, subject to change.

UPDATE: Bladensburg Waterfront Park has reopened its front gate to vehicles, providing access to the boat ramp, canoe & kayak launch dock, and fishing pier. The boatyard and community boathouse are also open for contract holders and users, with face covering use required in these areas. All trails and park grounds are open, while practicing social distancing. No group events or gatherings of 10 or more are permitted.”

More kayaking news

It’s likely that Boating in DC has opened all the locations they plan on for 2020 – Fletcher’s Boathouse, Key Bridge, Thompson Boat Center and District Wharf. Advanced reservations required.

Downriver, Boating in DC locations at Washington Sailing Marina in Alexandria and National Harbor, are closed. Ballpark boathouse is also closed for 2020. Belle Haven Marina, Penguin Paddling and Atlantic Kayak are open with restrictions.

Bladensburg Waterfront Park in Prince George’s County remains closed reopened.

Penguin Paddling tours along Occoquan River, Neabsco Creek and Aquia Harbour are now available.

Fireworks on the water

The annual Boating in DC has a July 4  fireworks rentals still has slots. Maybe I’ll try it one of these years.
