ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The third measurable snow storm of 2022 and in the last two weeks began falling at about 1 p.m. EST.

At 5:30 p.m. EST “Yardy” measured 3 inches of beautiful powder. Then the precipitation had just transitioned to sleet. The wintry mix is very disappointing, especially with the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday tomorrow.

The 2022 total is now 15 inches with 2 months of winter to go!

Sledding report: Good – powder to packed powder

8 a.m. update

Following a night of sleet and mostly rain, the snow has compacted down to about 1¼ inches.
