Two Maryland Potomac River-adjacent kayak rental locations are opening for the 2022 season on May 7.
- Boating in DC – National Harbor (reservations required)
- Atlantic Kayak Co. – Indian Head
Last year BinDC’s National Harbor location had a pretty restrictive paddling area. I’m hoping they open it up more this season.
Atlantic Kayak is on Mattawoman Creek – I’m not sure if it includes the Potomac River proper. Atlantic also offers tours of Mallows Bay ghost fleet.

These two openings bring the season total to 16. Most if not all DC area kayak rental locations will be open by Memorial Day weekend.
CapitalSUP in Annapolis opens on May 14. Also in Anne Arundel County, Whoof on the Wharf opens the week following.
Several lake locations in Fairfax and Montgomery counties open for the holiday weekend too. Ballpark Boathouse in SE DC near Nationals Park is scheduled then too.
There are some indications that Washington Sailing Marina in Alexandria may also return, stay tuned.
