Memorial Day weekend is the traditional high tide of the DC Kayaking season. Across the region, most if not all kayak rental locations are open for the season.

Inside the Beltway, the Ballpark Boathouse opens up the lower Anacostia River for paddling between the new Frederick Douglas Bridge and the John Phillip Sousa Bridge. Alexandria’s Washington Sailing Marina is also scheduled to open.
Outside the Beltway, several lakes in Fairfax and Montgomery counties come on line. New openings this weekend:
