Tuesday is the most meh day of the week. Last weekend is memory and next weekend is still days away. However, there is a way to look to Tuesday with anticipation…
Join DC’s Broomball league
On Tuesday night, Captiol Broomball aka District Broomball plays rec league games at Tucker Road Ice Rink, minutes from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. It’s a collegial co-ed league that goes back to 2009.
Broomball is similar to ice hockey, but in special shoes, balls and “brooms” instead of skates, pucks and sticks. The league provides equipment, though most returning players get their own helmet, shoes and stick. Currently, our age range is from early 20s to early 60s, so don’t feel like your time may have passed. The sprinting gets you in better shape by the third game.
It’s really fun.
I joined the league in 2018, though I had played broomball intermittently since college. It’s friendly competition that welcomes newcomers. I tend to play right wing and have scored a goal in almost every season since 2019.
This past season, I had 4 point (1 goal, 3 assists) game. If I can do that, so can you!
