October 30 – R.I.P. Frank Howard, Washington Senators slugger

Perhaps the greatest slugger in D.C. baseball history, Hondo hit 237 home runs in 7 seasons with the expansion Washington Senators. Only Ryan Zimmerman has hit more homers and it took him over a decade to do so.

May 22 – DC sports and transit cherry blossom branding overlap

From Metro trains to team jerseys, cherry blossoms were everywhere in 2023. The Nationals, Wizards, Capitals, Spirit and D.C. United all wore or sold blossom-themed gear. Uni Watch linking to this pushed up views.
